Ofsted Registered Wraparound Provision
designed to keep children active, engaged and happy before and after the school day.
More Than Childcare. A Place to Play, Grow & Belong.
Offering childcare from 7:30am to 6pm assists parents in balancing their work and family responsibilities, while also exposing children to a broader range of experiences and interests. Consequently, schools are expected to provide wraparound care if there is sufficient demand.
With flexible collection times, qualified staff and exciting specialist activities, our wraparound clubs give children a safe, enriching start and end to each school day. Overall, partnering with Foundation Sports & Play Herts for breakfast and after-school clubs, as well as holiday clubs, offers numerous benefits for schools, children, and families, ranging from academic and social development to convenience and well-being. Take the next step and get in touch with us today.
Importance of Wraparound Care
Schools are increasingly expected to provide wraparound care due to its positive impact on children's outcomes, including improved academic performance, social skills, and overall well-being. By September 2026, all schools must have wraparound care available to parents.
Positive Impact on Children
Research shows that participating in organised sports and after-school clubs enhances academic, social, emotional, and behavioural skills, especially for disadvantaged children. These activities focus on sports, fitness, games, and creativity, emphasising the 3 E's of coaching: Enthusiasm, Engagement, and Encouragement.
Foundation Sports & Play Herts Offerings
The Foundation Sports & Play Herts Breakfast & After-school Clubs provide a seamless integration into the school's provision, catering to children from Reception age to Year 6. They offer nutritious breakfast and snacks tailored to individual dietary requirements, ensuring children are prepared for the day ahead.
Convenience and Accessibility
Offering wraparound care on school premises or nearby is convenient for parents and eliminates the challenges associated with travelling to off-site activities, particularly for those facing logistical or financial constraints.
Support for Working Families
The clubs serve as a vital support system for busy working families by providing a safe environment for children before the school day begins, offering peace of mind for parents or guardians.
Health and Well-being
The programme emphasises the importance of physical health and development through activities that promote general fitness and active lifestyles, contributing to children's confidence and well-being. Nutritious meals and snacks are provided to ensure children start the day well-fed and maintain concentration and energy levels throughout the day.
Experiences Beyond the School Day
Our clubs are designed to enrich the children's experiences beyond the school day, offering engaging activities that build creativity, confidence and healthy lifestyles.
Inclusive & Flexible
We follow an inclusive, engaging programme with flexible collection times to support both families and school staff.
Qualified, Caring Staff Team
Children are cared for by qualified childcare professionals and experienced sports coaches, all trained in first aid, safeguarding and food hygiene, with each school supported by a dedicated club manager to ensure smooth day-to-day delivery.
Specialist External Providers
To keep sessions fresh and exciting, we also work with specialist external providers, introducing activities such as Sally Squiggle, animal encounters and themed workshops that create memorable experiences for the children.
Reviews From Schools
Foundation Sports and Play started with us in October 2024 and since then has gone from strength to strength. All staff who are employed by FSP and attend Essendon are well equipped with the knowledge, mindset and skills to be able to deliver the highest of quality childcare. David is an excellent communicator and if we have ever needed anything or suggested something, David is straight on hand to ensure the high standard is kept within. Thank you to all at Foundation Sports & Play. Essendon cannot wait to see what the future holds.
